Kattesh V. Katti, M.Sc.Ed, PhD, DSC, FRSC, FNAI, is globally recognized as the ‘Father of Green Nanotechnology', Dr.Katti is a Distinguished Curators’ Professor of Radiology, Margaret Proctor Mulligan Chair Professor of Cancer Research and Director, Institute of Green Nanotechnology, within the Medical School, University of Missouri, Columbia, USA. His invention demonstrates a series of discoveries, that antioxidant plant-based phytochemicals can be used as reservoirs of electrons for the creation of nanoparticles encapsulated with various phytochemicals. This ground breaking discovery which connected Green Nanotechnology with Ayurvedic medicine is considered to be the genesis of a new medical modality referred to as ‘Nano-Ayurvedic Medicine’.

University of Missouri researcher Kavita Katti is an innovator helping DNA to improve medical treatments. From an early age, Kavita felt an urge to improve outcomes and quality of life for those who are ill. That interest led to nearly three decades-long career in chemistry, medicine and radiology. Kavita has focused her efforts on developing Nano-Ayurvedic medical treatments using Green Nanotechnology that are more effective, have minimal side effects and are affordable to rural populations. Specifically, Kavita conducts research related to biocompatible nanoparticles and nanoparticle-based products for use in treating cancer and various debilitating diseases. Among other discoveries, she co-leda team of scientists who discovered how to makegold nanoparticles using gold salts, phytochemicals from Tea, Cumin, soybeans and a host of herbs in water. Traditionally, nanoparticle creation hasused chemicals that could be harmful tothe environment. The team's newprocess is a major step forward in"Green Nanotechnology-based" medical treatments. Kavita is also part of an interdisciplinary teamof chemists, nanotechnologists and biologists, who are collaborating with Dhanvantri Nano Ayushadi (DNA)--a new company to which MU's green nanotechnolgies have been licensed. DNA company investigates and produces nanoparticle-based products which can be used in medicine and the life sciences. Success stories include anti-microbial agents as well as agents for treating breast, prostate and various cancers. Based on her discoveries, Kavita holds several patents. In 2018, Ingram's magazine named Kavita as one of "50 Missourians you should know." Kavita Katti is a Scientist Lead in the School of Medicine and at the Institute of Green Nanotechnology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, USA.
